Here To Be The Best

Howdy! My name is Kamaria, an 18-year-old attending St. Petersburg Collegiate High School in St. Petersburg, Florida. By the time I graduate, I'll have a degree and will be transferring to the University of South Florida, where I hope to major in marketing, honing the few skills I have and adopting new ones. I’ve alway’s had the goal to be the best at what I do and, in exchange, use my abilities to help those around me and my community. I do have the inspiration to also take a few classes in psychology, as the human mind and behavior have always interested me. I feel as though it will really help me excel in my career and connect with people on a deeper level. In the future, I do want to go back to school and major in history, as world culture has always fascinated me. I think it’s a key part of the human experience to be able to come in contact with things unknown to yourself. In my free time, I spend head-deep in a book about dragons and people with superhuman abilities. I often find myself trapped inside my own someone else's writing and that’s a passion I hope never ceases. I also find the time to practice sketching, photography, and calisthenics.

Constant Communication

Something that I've noticed in recent years is a lack of communication between people. I make it my highest priority to make sure that no matter who I work with, their voice is heard. Understanding each other makes the work I do effective and efficient and my goal is to always give the best. This means setting up my coworkers for success and making sure that voices are heard and help is given.

Teamwork

When it comes to any job that a person may have, possessing the ability to know when to rely on others is an essential part of growth in my career. Working in a team has brought me better ideas and expresses the values that I strive to have in a workplace, such as inclusivity and diversity. Teamwork opens that pathway to effective communication and elevates my creativity, giving me the support and motivation I continue to reciprocate.

Problem Solver

It’s often very easy to get stuck on issues that are uncommon to us, but I work hard to establish ways to overcome the stressful feeling of pressure. To keep calm in moments of distress and taking the time to think about the next steps one at a time. Due to this, I've been able to create stronger connections and improve the work flow within my space. My ability to think on my feet and execute has made me adaptable and is what encourages my resilience to keep going while giving me more confidence in the work that I do.

Hollister

While working in retail, I've learned a lot about customer service; in fact, it helped me understand the best way to communicate with a customer that gives the best reaction toward a product. However, I also learned how to understand when to suggest something that better helps a customer to improve their satisfaction. This includes finding exactly what a customer needs or finding alternatives best suited for the given situation. This is what incited my problem-solving skills: working diligently to assure an enhanced customer experience and building trust and loyalty between buyer and seller. Retail environments allow you to deal with tough situations while also being able to ask questions to work more effectively. What I’ve also gained from the experience is managing others and showing leadership in my own team. Understanding how to apply constructive criticism and receive as well, using the knowledge that I gain to improve the over all function of the store.
